Cloud Computing For Quality Engineers

Cloud computing is becoming more and more popular in IT world. Cloud native approach even says that cloud is the new norm. However, is it the same story for the quality engineers?

Public cloud brings a lot to the table – as a typical tool it has advantages and disadvantages. For testers that often seems to be neutral at first, but in the long run, introduces much friction that in the past was not present at all.

Our goal is to show during a workshop what cloud computing can give QA people. We can start the conversation about how it may help in typical tasks, and then we show a few recipes for solving everyday problems. Everything presented with examples and practical exercises in AWS.

Takeaways:

  • Evangelize about cloud computing.
  • Showing how QA/TestOps can leverage public cloud provider based on AWS examples.
  • Expanding horizons and broadening the knowledge when it comes to DevOps culture.
  • Enabling QAs for being more independent when it comes to managing a test infrastructure in cloud environments.

Maximum number of participants: 20
Preliminary requirements for participants: Intermediate knowledge when it comes to setting up test environments, automation and managing test data/configuration for test environments. Basic knowledge of AWS.

By education I am a biomedical engineer, electronics engineer and project manager, a typical full-stack employee. I believe that everyone is able to learn everything, it is enough to want. During my adventure with the IT world I have had the opportunity to work as a tester, business analyst, UX designer and project manager. It seems that it is time to be a programmer. I gained my experience in research and development projects in the field of construction, automotive, medical and smart city. My skills are confirmed by ISTQB, PSM I, PSPO I, IREB certificates.

For many years I have been sharing my knowledge as part of industry events. I like to question the status quo and lead a verbal fencing on arguments supported by hard data, for which the teams I work with either like or hate me.

As befits a girl from a university of technology, I like beer in the company of strict minds.

During the day I am a programmer, architect and administrator at Pattern Match (https://pattern-match.com), of which I am a co-founder. Of course, like everyone else, I have my favourite technologies and fields – I try to rotate around the themes of Erlang/ Elixira, DevOps / TestOps / Infrastructure as a Code and cloud issues (especially AWS). I don’t stop there, I’m going out in front – I’m not afraid of new roles and I deeply believe in the full-stack employee approach.

At night I turn into an IT lover who eagerly shares his knowledge. How? I am an organizer of meetups and a speaker at industry events. In my free time, I transform myself into a bookworm and am a typical nerd focused only on IT.

I co-organize meetings of function programming enthusiasts, known as Functional Miners, and am a trainer in natywymmura.pl initiative, which focuses on evangelization of Cloud Native approach.
